From Raja Yoga Meditation
Malaysia is a multiracial, multi-religious community. There are pre-dominantly three races namely Malays, Indians and Chinese. The Malays make up 50% of the population, Indians 10% and Chinese 33%. The official religion of the country is Islam.
Malaysia has a strong Islamic tradition although other religious communities are allowed to practice Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and others. The various races promote their own culture through festivals and ceremonies and through their lifestyles. Malaysia therefore enjoys a wide range of multicultural activities.
It is in this scenario that Sahaj Marg meditation, under the aegis of Shri Ram Chandra Mission found its place in Malaysia. Sahaj Marg meditation was first introduced in Malaysia in 1977. It started out with a small group of people who began the practice following Babuji’s first visit to Malaysia in 1977. In 1997 Shri Ram Chandra Mission Malaysia was registered under the registrar of societies bearing the name of Persatuan Misi Shri Ram Chandra. Today Mission activities are conducted throughout the calendar year by way of seminars, national retreats and preceptors workshops in the various centres. There are 12 centres in Peninsula Malaysia and one in Miri ,Sarawak. There are 213 active abhyasis. Introductory sessions are held on a regular basis to share the practice of Sahaj marg meditation. Those who come for introductory sessions hear about sahaj marg meditation through the network of friends and relatives and by the spread of leaflets. We hope that the practice of Sahaj Marg Meditation will benefit the people of Malaysia.
